PURCHASING GUIDE
You should start with this kit here: JOOLTOOL MetalSmithing Kit.
It's a good start for common jewelry applications such as grinding sprues, scratch-removal, texturing and some polishing of metals like silver, brass, copper, aluminum, etc.
HARD STONES
If you work on Hard Stones, like emerald, sapphire, agate, amethyst, and other stones in the Corundum family (above 7.5 on the Mohs scale), you need the DELUXE LAPIDARY & GLASS KIT because it contains the complete assortment of Diamond Abrasives to ensure you can grind, shape and polish using Premium Polishing Diamond Abrasives all the way to a showcase shine (approximately 100,000 grit finish). As its name implies, you can also grind, shape and polish glass with this kit.
SOFT STONES
These are usually of a Mohs Hardness Scale rating below 7.5; similar or lower in hardness than turquoise, rhodochrosite, opal, apatite, fluorite, etc.
The Kit you need for working on these is the SOFT STONE LAPIDARY & GLASS KIT. You can also work on glass with this kit. The reason it's only meant for Soft Stones is because your polish is achieved with the FELT DISC and Compound; this kit does not contain the Polishing Diamond Abrasives necessary to get a great shine on Hard Stones.
If you purchase only the SOFT-STONE Kit and eventually would like to work on HARD STONES. Then you can later purchase the LAPIDARY UPGRADE KIT to complete your set of abrasives and enable it to polish stones up to 9.5 on the Mohs scale.
Keep in mind that there exist far too many stones to list here and you can likely come across some stones with varying degrees of hardness within the same stone piece.

YES! The JOOLTOOL Machine works with any electrical system in any country in the world
Whether you choose the 3-inch or 4-inch discs, both will get the job done beautifully and both sizes fit on the same JOOLTOOL machine! There’s no right or wrong answer here, just a matter of preference.
However, the 4-inch discs do offer a few unique advantages
Benefits of the 4” JOOLTOOL Discs:
-Longer-lasting abrasives – More surface area means extended wear time.
-Increased clearance – Many users love the extra space under the disc, helping avoid contact with hands or knuckles during use.
-Greater visibility – Enjoy full see-through visibility from the edge to the center of the disc.
-Larger working surface – The 4” size covers more area, making certain tasks quicker and more efficient.
-Versatile addition – A great complement to your existing JOOLTOOL setup, many customers keep both sizes for different tasks.
-Anie-approved! Anie loves both sizes and uses each where they shine best.
Both disc sizes are fully compatible with your JOOLTOOL , so feel free to mix and match based on your needs!

Hello! and congratulations on joining the JOOLTOOL family!
Here are Anie's top 5 tips:
1.No “pushy pushy”. It doesnt require any pressure to work your piece, it will only wear out your disks.
2. don't pull your work off of the edge of the disk when you remove it. Lower it or drop it down. This will keep you from tearing up the edges of your sandpaper.
3. Work more in the “see-through area” NOT on the edge of the disc. This will keep your disc lasting longer. And it will provide a smoother finish. When you work on the edge, you don’t get a smooth uniform finish.
4. Remember to adjust the Jooltool to your height. Whether you are sitting or standing. You have to remember that you need a good aerial view from the top of the disc.
5. And have a good overhead light to see what you are doing!
